A nano-composite is a multiphase solid material where one of the phases has one, two or three dimensions of less than 100 nanometers (nm), or structures having nano-scale repeat distances between the different phases that make up the material. Organically and inorganically modified nano sized minerals/particles i.e., Nanocomposites have revolutionized both agricultural and industrial sectors with various applications by physical, chemical and biological synthesis.- Workshop on ‘Advances in Physics:From Concepts to Applications’

The year 1935 was notable for many reasons, one of them being the formal inauguration of Indian Society of Soil Science on January 3, 1935 at Presidency College, Calcutta. The First president of this society was Sir Bryce C Burt, the then Agricultural Commissioner in the Imperial Council of Agricultural Research with Prof J N Mukherjee as its first Secretary. Dr S K Chaudhuri is the present president with Dr D R Biswas as its secretary.- Waste Management Principles and Disposal Processing Methods for Toxic and Non-Toxic Wastes

In modern industrial activities waste has become an indispensable item. But waste always does not mean it should be discarded, rather modem practices focus on reuse, recycling and reutilization of such waste for beneficiary contribution towards the society. Thus, there is necessary for awareness among people regarding waste and its disposal processing.

Gemstones are a matter of enigma and speculation from time immemorial. The extraordinary and satiated colors of many gems enhance their aesthetic beauty, while others yield extraordinary fire, birefringence or other unique light displays. The first discovery of gemstone, thus, can be marked as an important event in evolution. Man's ever-increasing quench for gemstones, however, failed to keep pace with the expensive cost of these substances of timeless treasure. Thus, the process of manufacturing synthetic gemstones stepped into the scenario. Now, besides natural gemstones, synthetic gemstones also cover a large sector of global market. Synthetic stones, however, will always be different from the natural ones. Hence one should definitely have a thorough knowledge about the processes by which synthetics are formed and the ways which distinguish them from the natural ones.

The earliest ceramics were pottery objects, made from clay, either by itself or mixed with other materials, hardened in fire. Later ceramics were glazed and fired to create a colored, smooth surface. Ceramics now include domestic, industrial and building products and art objects. In the 21st century, now ceramic materials were developed for use in advanced ceramic engineering; for example, in semiconductors. Now it is being used in both of traditional & modern aspects.

Geothermal energy means natural heat of the Earth as the geo means earth and thermal means heat. This thermal energy generated and stored in the Earth. It determines the temperature of matter. It associated with plate boundaries and, so, plate tectonism theory has been highlighted here with geothermal reservoir and geothermal region in whole earth. To avoid environmental hazards role of it with usage are also described in the text.

Waste management is a challenging task due to its wide variations in handling materials. Most of the waste management schemes involve any or all of few essential steps, e.g., waste storage, segregation, transportation, treatment for recovery/ recycle/waste volume reduction and then final disposal of residues. Clay plays as an important agent for recycling of toxic and non toxic wastes. Waste management program needs proper understanding of the waste types and adequate information about the waste treatment process.

The development of the ever-growing technology in various fields, education system has also evolved. Previously with the beginning of education academically, emphasis was given mostly on core topics of various subjects like chemistry, physics, mathematics etc. In recent times, many unsolved questions are being solved. For example, recently a team of astrophysicists have produced an image of black hole. This work would not have been possible if people of various backgrounds didn’t come forward with their knowledge of core subjects along with knowledge in various other related fields. Here the term “astrophysicists” gives us the view of a combined study of two subjects i.e. physics and astronomy. In order to gain insights knowledge in applied subjects a multidisciplinary form of study and research is required. Interdisciplinary is the form of study of two or more disciples. It helps us giving insights on various correlated works.References

Volcanic eruption of Mount Tambora in Indonesia left half of the population in the island dead. The ash and the smoke that spread throughout the globe caused rapid climate change that resulted in drought, floods and lowering of global temperature for the following next 3 years. Shortage of food caused the horses to die which inspired Karl Von Drais to invent the bicycle. The invention of bicycle and its social impact especially on woman is quite important in history. Rational clothing for riding bicycle changed woman’s fashion, culture and especially its primitive societal views about woman. Keywords
